Sweetgrass Community Center
After the successful completion of of the TTN Health Facilities, we were asked again to help design a new community center with a focus of healing and learning opportunities for the members of the first nation. This center was designed to allow for counselors, their offices, a large communal training space with industrial kitchen for teaching, and smudging and spiritual room. The Smudging room also had complete medicine wheel floor painting, medicine wheel circular window, cedar wall paneling and intricate lattice ceiling in keeping with the traditions of the first nation. Extra precautious was taken with the fire rating of the smudging room to ensure the safety of it’s occupants and the remaining facilities within the Apitisawin building.
